The Consortium for the Research in Automation and Telecommunication (CRAT) was founded in 2006 on the initiative of Prof. Francesco Delli Priscoli and Roberto Cusani with the involvement of Prof. Alberto Isidori and Eng. Manlio Proia.

The consortium is currently composed by the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and the companies Thales Alenia Space Italia, Space Engineering, Politecnico di Bari and TopNetwork.

CRAT is mainly engaged in Telecommunication Systems, both terrestrial and satellite, Computer Systems and Energy Systems. In addition CRAT:

    - Takes part in national and international research projects (European projects)
    - Carries out applied research on behalf of companies or public and private institutions

Headquarter: The office is located in Via Giovanni Nicotera 29, Rome.

Personnel: The research activities are mainly carried out by the staff of the following Departments of the Engineering Faculty:

    - DIAG, Former DIS (Via Ariosto 25, Rome)
    - DIET, Former INFOCOM (via Eudossiana 18, Rome)
